After receiving information from the FBI Monday, Aug. 18, the Troy Police Department arrested Douglas Edward Hale, 37, US Highway 231 North, Troy, for one count of possession of child pornography.

The FBI contacted the Troy Police Department in reference to Hale having inappropriate, explicit online contact with a juvenile female, said Lt. Bryan Weed with the Troy Police Department.

“They served a search warrant on a computer after they received some information from an out of state agency about this guy,” Weed said. “They did some follow-up investigation and received probable cause to receive the search warrant, which led into his charges.”

Troy Police Department detectives conducted a search after receiving the information on Hale and complied enough evidence to develop probable cause to receive a search warrant for Hale’s computer. A search of his computer showed Hale was in possession of child pornography, Weed said in Wednesday morning’s press release.

Hale was transported to the Troy City Jail for processing and moved to the Pike County Jail with a bond of $25,000.

Hale will remain in Pike County Jail pending a bond revocation hearing. Hale was currently out on bond for a previous pending charge of sexual abuse first degree.
