Solomon was at a residence on East Orange Street when an argument broke out between Solomon and the victim, said Lt. Bryan Weed with the Troy Police Department.

“The victim was shot one time in the upper left leg,” Weed said. “He was transported to Troy Regional Medical Center. Witnesses at the scene advised that the suspect was a Lenoris Solomon and gave us the vehicle description.”

Shortly after the incident, Solomon fled the scene in a green Chevrolet Malibu. Weed said officers identified the vehicle and after trying to perform a traffic stop, Solomon fled the vehicle in the 300 block of Astor Avenue.

“Approximately 10 minutes after the time of call came out, officers observed Solomon on that vehicle and attempted to make a traffic stop at which time he fled,” Weed said. “He jumped out of the car in the 300 block of Astor Avenue and officers gave pursuit on foot. He was observed going into an apartment in Woodland Hills Apartments. A perimeter was set up. We made contact with the folks there, and they came out. Tactical made entry, and we located Solomon in the residence.”

Solomon was apprehended after resisting arrest.

“It wasn’t his apartment,” Weed said. “He knew the people. He ran in. They asked him to leave, and he refused. We made contact with them with them leaving the apartment. We got out of the way and safe and then made entry and then located him and we recovered the firearm.”

Katrina Jordon, a resident of the Hubbard Community, said she was just thankful none of the neighborhood children were home during the incident.

“It woke me up,” Jordon. “I was at home. I had no idea what would happen, but I’m glad the kids were in school. There are a whole lot of children who stay over here. One of the kids could have gotten hit.”
