Charles Henderson downed Asford in the first game of the day, 5-4, thanks to timely hitting early and a “workmanlike” start from pitcher Molly Kate Sanders.

The Lady Trojans did all their damage in the first two innings, scoring thee in the first and two in the second. Sidney Armstrong doubled in the first to bring home Sanders. In the second, Armstrong picked up another RBI on a line drive single to center.

Sanders went the distance in the circle, allowing eight hits and striking out four.

“Molly Kate threw well in the circle, and I really like the way the girls played tonight,” said Charles Henderson head coach Trent Givens. “It was an early day, but I liked what I saw from the ladies this morning.”

With the season over, Givens looked back on his first year as head coach.

“I learned just as much from the girls, as they did from me,” Givens said. “We are young, but they never used that as an excuse. We have time to get better, and that will come. They work hard, and good things always come to those who put in the work.”
