Offense: Mondarius Dixon, RB, CHHS

With Charles Henderson clinging to a 38-36 lead over UMS-Wright, head coach Mike Dean turned to running back Mondarius Dixon.

Dixon validated his coaches’ faith when he ran for two first downs on six carries to run out the clock and send the Trojans to Tusclaoosa.

Dixon finished the night with 150 yards and a touchdown on 31 carries.

Dixon and the rest of the Trojan offense will have a tall test waiting for them in Tuscaloosa in the form of the Oneonta Redskin defense. The Redskins gave up a little under 11 points-per-game during the season, trailing only Central-Clay and Dadeville in Class 4A.

Kickoff is set for 11 a.m. at Bryant-Denny Stadium in Tuscaloosa.

Defense: Coby Smith, DL, CHHS

Coby Smith provided the spark on defense that the Trojans needed to outlast the UMS-Wright Bulldogs in a 38-36 semifinal victory.

Smith recorded four tackles on the night, but his most impactful play of the game came in the second quarter when he returned a fumble 37 yards for a touchdown that tied the game at 14 with 9:24 left to go in the first half.

Smith’s play started a Charles Henderson run that we see the Trojans take a 38-21 lead in to the fourth quarter.

Smith and the defense will need to play a near perfect game this Friday against the Oneonta Redskins. The Redskins have put up more than 46 points-per-game and have scored more than 35 points in every game since week two. Only Calera averaged more points-per-game than Oneonta in Class 4A.
