Offense: John Johnson, Charles Henderson

On a night where everything was seemingly going wrong for the Charles Henderson offense, John Johnson turned in another solid performance in the Trojans’ 27-26 win over Greenville.

While Johnson’s stats have been higher in previous games, the Trojans needed every yard he got them on Friday. Johnson ended the night with 98 yards rushing on just nine carries and hauled in one pass for seven yards.

Johnson’s biggest play of the night came early in the second quarter. With the Trojans trailing 6-0, Johnson took a handoff, slashed through the Tiger defense and zig-zagged his way to the end zone for a 49 yard touchdown run.

Johnson’s performance helped the Trojans keep its perfect 5-0 record intact.

Defense: Richard McBryde, Charles Henderson

The leader of the Charles Henderson defense, linebacker Richard McBryde, turned in a valuable performance against the Greenville Tigers Friday night.

The soft-spoken junior finished the night with 11 tackles, three tackles for loss and blocked a punt. In a game where points and yards were at a premium, McBryde and the rest of the Trojan defense held Greenville to just 190 yards of total offense.

McBryde’s biggest play of the night came in the first quarter. With Greenville backed up inside its own 25-yard line, McBryde stepped through a gap and blocked the punt, setting the Trojan offense up in prime field position.

McBryde and the Trojans will take their undefeated record to Headland Friday night, looking to clinch a playoff spot.
