Baseball great Yogi Berra coined the odd phrase “It’s like deja vu all over again,” and the phrase described Goshen’s three-set sweep over Charles Henderson Thursday afternoon,

One week removed from a season-opening sweep of the Lady Trojans, Goshen rolled to set wins of 25-14, 25-11 and 25-17 to claim a six set, season sweep over its friendly rivals.

Goshen head coach Amy Warrick said the wins over CHHS have been team efforts.

“It was another great team effort out there tonight,” Warrick said. “We were able to play everybody, and that will be big for us later in the season. We had good passing, and I though we moved our feet and hustled a little better than we did in the last game against Brantley. It was just a really good day.”

In the third set, Goshen found itself down 12-7, before reeling off 15 consecutive points to take control of the set, and seal the match.

Warrick feels that the Lady Eagles played an all-around good match, but pointed to the way her team served and the net play of Casey Allen as keys to the big win.

“The whole team had a much better day serving,” Warrick said. “We are trying some different things, and it worked today. I don’t like to put individuals over the team, but Casey had a really good day, at the net especially.”

Despite the loss, Charles Henderson head coach Jennifer Sikes saw things that she feels are positives.

She said the Lady Trojans will take some bumps early on, but will be ready to go when area play nears.”

“This team is still trying to gel,” Sikes said. “When they do, I feel that we will be a pretty good team. They weren’t as intimidated today against Goshen. We are making steps in the right direction, and by the time playoffs get here, we will be where we need to be.”
