Henry Therman Palmer

Mr. Henry Therman Palmer of Hartford (Oak Grove Community) passed away Saturday, June 1, 2013 at his home. He was 95.

Graveside services were held at 4:00 p.m. on Sunday, June 2 in the Hartford City Cemetery with Sorrells Funeral Home & Crematory of Geneva directing.

Mr. Palmer was born on August 7, 1917 in the Oak Grove Community of Geneva County to the late William D & Mary Viola Hayes Palmer, the youngest and last surviving of 11 children. With the exception of serving in the US Army during World War II in Europe, he lived his entire life within the community he was born. Mr. Palmer was a farmer, farming family land that had been acquired by his father in the 1800’s. For his second career, he was owner & operator of Palmer’s Service Station in Hartford until he sold it at age 86. He continued to raise livestock and manage his farm land for several more years.

He is survived by his wife of 63 years, Lucille McCoy Palmer, Hartford; son, Dennis Palmer, Hartford; daughter, Phyllis Vanderzyl, Ozark; grandson, Dr. Jeffrey Lawson, Pensacola, FL; granddaughter, Missy (John) Ramage; three great grandchildren: Riley, Mary and Amy Ramage, all of Brundidge; and other extended family and friends.
