UNION SPRINGS – Charles Henderson cruised to their seventh win of the year by blasting Bullock County 61-14 Friday night.

The Trojans rolled up yards seemingly at will in the first half, and subbed in reserves early and often throughout the game.

Charles Henderson used some big offensive plays to jump on the Hornets in the first half and never looked back. The Trojans scored on plays of 15, 50, 20 and 36 yards in the first two stanzas.

Charles Henderson head coach Mike Dean said that scoring quick was part of the game plan.

“We wanted to come out and get on them quick, “ said Dean. “We wanted to get a lot of kids in the game, and get some work. We kept coaching the entire time, because we coach players not scores. You have to treat the game like it is 0-0 all the time.”

The large lead also allowed Dean to substitute some younger players in to the rotation, and get game experience for the future.

“You like to sub in the younger guys as much as you can,” said Dean. “The more reps they are able to get, the more productive they can be when there name is called with the game close.”

Detorrian Green has a big night in the special teams department, blocking a punt for a safety late in the second quarter and returning the second-half kickoff 70 yards for a touchdown.

Dean said that Charles Henderson has worked quite a bit on special teams down the stretch, in preparation for close games in the playoffs

“Special teams will decide at least two games during the year,” said Dean. “We have worked on it, to try to get better so we can pull out the close ones.”

The win locked Charles Henderson in the three spot for the playoffs, and with it a road game in the first round.
