If you’re reading this at 3 p.m., you’ve already missed your chance.

Today is the fourth annual Furfest, Pike Animal Shelter’s biggest fall fundraiser, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Troy Recreational Complex.

At the event, photographers can snap photos of you with your pet while you chow down on barbecue and listen to several live musicians, including the Johnny Barron Band, Park Band, J. Harvey Johnson, Art Gaudet and Sid Phelps. For the pooches, there’s a dog wash, toys, and Bone Mountain, where pups can nose through a pile of doggy treats. SheBANG, Troy’s step-dancing team, the Troy School of Dance, the Alabama Jubilee Chorus, and Puppets Praising Christ will also perform, among others.

For kids, there’s an inflatable slide and face painting. About six dogs, wearing yellow “Adopt Me” jumpers, will also be at the event, looking for families willing to offer a good home to a good pet.

Tickets are $10 at the complex and all proceeds will go to the Pike Animal Shelter.

So stop by, eat up, party down, and support your community with your BFF—best four-legged friend, that is.
