Sidney R. Starling Sr.

Sidney R. Starling Sr., 84, a lifelong and proud resident of Pike County died Thursday, September 30, 2010, after an extended illness.

Funeral services will be Saturday, October 2, 2010, at 3:30 p.m. at the First United Methodist Church with the Rev. David McVay officiating. Visitation will be from 1 until 3:15 p.m. Saturday at the Church.

A good and faithful servant all his life, Mr. Starling proudly served his country in World War II, was a long standing board member of the Pike County Heart Association, a lifelong member of First United Methodist Church, a founding member of the Troy Exchange Club, and an employee of 41 years at Troy Bank and Trust, retiring in 1989.

He is survived by his wife, Mary A. Starling; two sons, Sidney R. (Buddy) Starling Jr. (Sherry) and David A. Starling (Beth), all of Troy; grandchildren, Will, Josh, Drew, Anna and Mary Margaret Starling; and a sister, Annie Claire McDonald of Hurst, Texas.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Jarel and Clara Starling; and infant grandson, Hunter Russell Starling; six brothers; and one sister.

Honorary pallbearers, will be The Wesley McCartha Mens Sunday School Class of First United Methodist Church and the Troy Exchange Club.
