James “Jim” Terry

James Dendy “Jim” Terry, age 62, of Troy, Alabama, passed away Sunday, September 19, 2010, at UAB Medical Center in Birmingham, Alabama, after a two year battle with cancer.

Funeral services for Mr. Terry will be Wednesday, September 22, 2010, at 11:30 a.m., in the chapel of Bush Memorial Baptist Church in Troy. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Tuesday evening from 5 p.m. until 8 p.m. Services will also be held Thursday, September 23, 2010, at 11 a.m. at Bethel Baptist Church and Cemetery in Houston, Mississippi.

Mr. Terry, a man whom never met a stranger, served as an active deacon in his church and spent a lifetime devoted to his family and to the service of others. He often found encouragement and offered strength to others throughout the duration of his illness.

Mr. Terry is survived by his wife Nina Terry; son, Jason Terry (Brooke); and granddaughters Abbi Kay and Lexie Terry, all of Troy, Alabama. He is preceded in death by his parents, Luther and Laurice Terry; and brother, Will Terry. He will also be greatly missed by a large extended family.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to the Bush Memorial Baptist Church Building Fund or the American Cancer Society.
