Joel Dyer Murphree, III of 205 Murphree Street, Troy, Alabama passed away on September 4, 2010. Mr. Murphree was 89 years old. He was born December 15, 1921, son of the late Joel Dyer Murphree, Jr., and Mary Elizabeth Barrow Murphree. He was preceeded in death by his brothers, Sam B. Murphree, Sr., and Edwin P. Murphree and a sister, Ursula Murphree Swann. He is survived by several nephews and nieces. Mr. Murphree was a lifelong resident of Troy and a member of the First Baptist Church.
The family has requested that in lieu of flowers, donations be made to the Murphree Cemetery Memorial Trust, 1627 CR 1149, Troy, Alabama 36079.
Graveside services will be held Tuesday, September 7, 2010 at 10:00 AM in the Oakwood Cemetery with Dr. John Brannon officiating. Dillard Funeral Home in Troy directing.
Friends will gather at the Graveside for the services.
