A Troy man is being held in the Pike County Jail for allegedly sodomizing a child under the age of 12.

Tripp Freeman, 20, of Troy, was charged with sodomy first degree and arrested late Thursday night, said Troy Police Spokesman Sgt. Benny Scarbrough.

The incident is said to have taken place in February 2007 at a local church, according to the court file in the Pike County Circuit Clerk’s Office.

Scarbrough said the investigation is ongoing and could lead to further charges.

This investigation is related to a misdemeanor harassment charge Freeman also faces for something said to have taken place on May 7.
