A preliminary hearing for two sexual misconduct charges against Tripp Freeman has been continued until June 22.

The hearing, which was originally scheduled for 1:30 p.m. Tuesday in the Pike County District Court, was rescheduled because Freeman’s attorney, J. Carlton Taylor, was unable to attend.

A first-degree sodomy charge and one charge of enticement of a child will be the allegations discussed in the 1:30 p.m. June 22 hearing. Freeman, 20, also faces eight other charges including one each of enticement and sodomy, four counts of harassment and two counts of indecent exposure.

Freeman was first arrested on May 11 for a harassment charge stemming from an incident with a 13-year-old boy at a Relay for Life event. The child’s parents filed the charges and encouraged other parents to talk to their children about possible contact with Freeman.

Since then, Freeman has been named the suspect in nine other sexual misconduct incidents involving minors.

Freeman was being detained in the Pike County Jail and his bond has been set at a total of $243,000.

The two sodomy offenses are Class A felonies, and each carries a sentence of 10 years to life.

Before undergoing trial, Freeman must be indicted by a grand jury. The next Pike County Grand Jury will be called in October.
