Doe Stewart

Dee Anderson Stewart, 84, a Montgomery resident, died Saturday, July 11, 2009. Her graveside service was Monday, July 13, 2009, at 10 a.m. from Alabama Heritage Cemetery, with Luann Williams, close family friend, officiating. Visitation was 9 a.m. prior to her service, at Alabama Heritage Funeral Home.
Mrs. Stewart was born April 15, 1925, to Charlie and Sallie Anderson, and was raised in Hartford,. She married Charles William Stewart on Nov. 14, 1947, and had been married for 55 years at the time of his death in 2002.
She was preceded in death by her parents and a granddaughter, Jennifer Ann Rogers.
She is survived by three children, Chuck Stewart (Melinda), Peggy Taylor (Dale), and Sally Dumais (Arthur); two sisters, Awa Maru Henry, and Jessie Lee Ballard (Gene); 14 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren.
In her early years, Mrs. Stewart was employed by the State of Alabama, and became a devoted homemaker and mother. A member of Arrowhead’s Garden Club, she enjoyed her time working at the Election Polls as a volunteer. The family would like to express their sincere gratitude and appreciation for the genuine devotion and care given to our mother and our family by the staff at Troy Regional Medical Center. Their compassion shown to our mother exceeded any other previous hospital experience. Pallbearers will be Josh Stewart, Ryan Stewart, Peyton Rogers, David Taylor, Stewart Taylor, and James Key. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Jennifer Rogers Memorial Scholarship, Pelham High School, 2500 Panther Circle, Pelham, , 35124-1670. Alabama Heritage Directing.
