A Pike County jury found a Highland Home teen guilty of first-degree robbery late Monday. For his crime, the teen was sentenced to a 60-year prison sentence.

Jabradski Andre Pruitt, 17, was found guilty of beating and attempting to steal a vehicle from a 19-year-old female.

District Attorney Mark Fuller said Pruitt was sentenced to 60 years for the incident that occurred on April 8, 1999. Circuit Judge Gary McAliley imposed the sentence.

It was around 1:30 a.m. that April day that Pruitt followed Pamela D. Davis from a club in Troy to her residence.

According to Fuller, it was at that time Pruitt approached her vehicle, entered it via the passenger side door and hit her over the head with a beer bottle.

She jumped out of the vehicle to escape her attacker, who followed and threw her to the ground. Pruitt then began punching and kicking Davis before her parents heard the commotion outside and scared Pruitt away.

Fuller said a tape of Pruitt’s comments to police was played during testimony.

"He said he was out doing it for kicks," Fuller said of Pruitt’s remarks.

Pruitt also stated he had no intention of stealing the vehicle, but wanted to know what it was like to beat someone, Fuller said.
