“Walkers are encouraged to walk seven laps in honor of the seven founders of our chapter and all donations, large or small, will be greatly appreciated,” Toney said. “This will be our chapter’s first Sickle Cell Awareness Walk and we are looking forward to being able to lend support to the St. Jude support program that helps children with sickle cell disease as they go through their MRI scans without anesthesia.”

Toney said the members of the local chapter of Sigma Gamma Rho Sorority are looking forward to the Sickle Cell Awareness Walk, as participants and as an opportunity to bring greater awareness to Sickle Cell disease. “And a way to show support to Braidon and Rhoer Navaeh.

The Iota Eta Sigma Chapter is involved in fundraisers in support of other local events throughout the year, including, but limited to, the Salvation Army, the American Red Cross, Breast Cancer Awareness, Big Book Bags and Juneteenth.
