The Troy Trojans released their 2024 volleyball schedule on Thursday, which will include non-conference matches against Auburn, Texas A&M, LSU and Wisconsin.
The 2024 schedule features seven matches against teams that qualified for the NCAA Division I Volleyball Tournament last season, including Wisconsin who made it to the Final Four.
“Our 2024 schedule is extremely competitive once again. Each year, we work to create a schedule that will best prepare our team to compete for a Sun Belt championship, and that means playing teams inside the top 50 during non-conference play,” Troy Coach Josh Lauer said. “We also want to provide our team with the best competitive experiences possible and that includes great traditional rivalry matches with the likes of Jacksonville State, Alabama State and Kennesaw State. It also includes playing on the road in front of some great volleyball crowds at both LSU and Wisconsin.”
Troy opens the season on the road Aug. 17 against Jacksonville State for an exhibition match before the regular season begins on the road at LSU for tournament action. Troy will play Maryland and New Hampshire on Aug. 30 before facing off against LSU on Aug. 31.
The Trojans then head to Auburn on Sept. 3. Troy has never beaten Auburn on the volleyball court, trailing the all-time series 9-0. The two sides last met in 2022.
Troy opens up the home slate on Sept. 7 against Cal-Poly before heading to Montgomery to face Alabama State on Sept. 10. Troy will then host the Troy Invitational Sept. 12-14. Troy plays the Citadel on Sept. 12 and faces Kennesaw State on Sept. 14.
Troy closes out the non-conference schedule on the road with a matchup against Wisconsin on Sept. 20 and Texas A&M on Sept. 22. This will be the first time that Troy has ever played either Texas A&M or Wisconsin.
Troy returns home as the Sun Belt Conference schedule begins against rival South Alabama for a series Sept. 26-27. Troy travels to Texas State Oct. 4-5 and then heads to Georgia Southern Oct. 10-11. Back at home, the Trojans face Louisiana Oct. 18 before traveling to Arkansas State Oct. 24-25.
Troy will host ULM for a series Oct. 31 and Nov. 1 before heading to Southern Miss Nov. 7-8. The Trojans close out the regular season at home against Appalachian State Nov. 14-15. The Sun Belt Tournament will take place in Foley Nov. 20-24.
Troy will be without All-Sun Belt performer Julia Brooks but returns veteran players like All-Sun Belt outside hitter Tori Hester, All-Sun Belt setter Janelle Stuempfig and outside hitter Amiah Butler. Hester led Troy with 509 total points last season, including 442 kills, 24 assists, 45 aces, 302 digs and 37 blocks. Butler tallied 353 kills, three assists, 20 aces, 70 digs and 45 blocks. Stuempfig ended her sophomore campaign with 1,084 assists along with 73 kills, 18 aces, 202 digs and 43 blocks.
