John Roy loved his family more than life itself. He spent his entire life as a carpenter and over 35 years as a taxidermist. He absolutely loved telling stories and playing poker while talking smack to distract other players, most of which, he called his friends.

He is proceeded in death by his father and mother and survived by his wife, Darlene (Fountain) Moran, of 55 years. Together they had eight children: John Roy Moran III, Brandi DeSandro (Mike), Darlia Roberts, Casie Scott (Derek), Kemberly Groue (Gerald), Shane Moran (Jessica), Courtney Jinright (Jerod), and Emelta Liptrot. His legacy will continue to live on through his 24 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren.

In order for friends of Troy, Alabama to share their condolences, a Memorial Gathering will take place on Sunday, June 9, 2024 at the home of Brandi DeSandro, 3319 Co Rd 201, Troy, Al., 36079 from 10am – 2pm.
