Brundidge Mayor Isabell Boyd has proclaimed the month of May 2024 as Mental Health Month in Brundidge.

In doing so, the mayor called upon the citizens, government agencies, public and private institutions, businesses and schools to recommit the Brundidge community to increasing awareness and understanding of mental health, the steps the Brundidge citizens can take to protect their mental health, and the need for appropriate and accessible services for all people with mental health conditions before Sage Four.

In presenting the proclamation to the council, Boyd said all Americans experience times of difficulty and stress in their lives.

“Prevention is an effective way to reduce the burden of mental health and conditions,”
Boyd said. “There is strong research that diet, exercise, sleep and stress management can help all Americans protect their health and well-being.”

The mayor said mental health conditions are real and prevalent in the United States.

“With effective treatment, those with mental health conditions can recover and lead full and productive lives.”

Boyd expressed hope and encouragement that each business, school, government agency, healthcare provider, organization and all citizens share the burden of mental health problems and collectively share the responsibility to promote mental wellness and support prevention efforts.’
