AHSAA announces area alignments for spring sports for 2025, 2026 seasons

On Thursday, the Alabama High School Athletic Association (AHSAA) announced the area alignments for spring sports for the 2025 and 2026 seasons.

In baseball, the reigning Class 2A State Champion Ariton Purple Cats will remain in 2A, Area 4 alongside Abbeville and GW Long, while Barbour County joins the area. Zion Chapel, who previously was in Area 4, will now jump into Area 3 along with Pike Liberal Arts School, Goshen and Luverne.

Pike County will be moving in to Class 4A beginning this fall and the baseball team will begin play in Class 4A, Area 4 along with Opp, Straughn, New Brockton and Bullock County.

Charles Henderson will remain in Class 5A, Area 3, which will have a new look as Greenville and Andalusia join the now three-team area.

In softball, Ariton will remain a part of Class 2A, Area 3 along with Abbeville, GW Long and Houston County. Pike Lib, Goshen, Luverne and Zion Chapel will make up Class 2A, Area 4. Pike County will jump into Class 4A, Area 4 along with Bullock County, New Brockton, Opp and Straughn, while Charles Henderson moves into Class 4A, Area 3 along with Andalusia and Greenville.
