David Shane Norris

David Shane Norris, friend to all, passed away comfortably at home surrounded by his family on Monday, May 6, 2024. A Celebration of Life will be at 3:00pm on Sunday, May 12, 2024, at the Claudia Crosby Theater at Troy University with Pastors Les Teel, Blake Cotter, Louis Johnson, and Coleman Ulmer officiating. A private burial will be at Green Hills Memorial Cemetery.

Honorary pallbearers will be: David Norris, Jordan Parrish, Doug Elliott, Will Thornton, Jeff Ross, Tommy Lowery, Jacob Poe, Adin Ballard, Erik Thimaras, Aaron Thimaras, Casey Thimaras, and Luke Thimaras.

Shane grew up in Pensacola, FL where he developed a deep love for his savior Jesus. Through Christ he met his wife in church Sunday school and began his family. He was known for his immensely big heart, epic sense of humor, infectious laughter, and unwavering devotion to his family and friends. He was a mentor to multitudes and touched the lives of anyone blessed to ever meet him. The legacy he left can be seen not only in his children but all throughout the communities where he chose to serve in and around Troy, Alabama. He served as a church planter establishing multiple congregations. He became a student pastor and missions leader. He grew in Christ as an Associate pastor and a worship leader. He furthered the kingdom of heaven by fostering disciples and facilitating their spiritual growth.

 Shane was preceded in death by his father, David Lynn Norris; and his paternal grandmother, Etta Norris, and maternal grandmother Docia Slade.  Loving survivors include his wife of 33 years, Kelly Norris; children, Angela Parrish (Jordan), David Norris (Paige); grandchildren, Peyton, Callie, Bridger, Beckett; mother, Kay & father, Nicholas Thimaras; brother, Erik Thimaras (Ashley); sisters in law, Kim Vinson, Jessica Knickelbine (Shawnn); mother-in-law, Rosa Knickelbine; as well as several very beloved nieces, nephews, and cousins.
