Pike Lib wins 1A/2A Boys Golf Sectional

The Pike Liberal Arts Patriots took the gold in the Class 1A/2A Section 1 Boys Golf Tournament in Greenville on Tuesday.
The top four teams in each sectional advance to substate. Pike Lib’s boys finished in first place with a score of 311 ahead of Elba, who finished second with a score of 322 and Bayshore Christian who finished third with a score of 326. Wicksburg finished in fourth with a score of 330.
Pike’s Braden Prestwood was also the individual medalist with a score of 70, while teammate Jackson Cleveland finished just behind him shooting 71. Pike’s Ford Hussey shot an 84, while Sawyer Keck shot an 86, Bryant Swindall shot 97 and Carter Nelson shot 89.
The Pike Lib girls also finished in fourth place of the 1A/3A Section 1 Girls Tournament, as well. Pike finished with a score of 320, while Houston Academy and Wicksburg tied for first place with a score of 254 and Mobile Christian shot 266.
For Pike, Taylor Ellis shot 98, while Avery Greene shot 111, Alden O’Connor shot 111 and Abbie Roblee shot 126.
Pike Lib’s boys and girls now advance to the 1A/2A Substate Tournament next week. The boys will play in Greenville on May 7 and the girls will play in Dothan on May 6.
