On April 17, Enterprise native Jamel Fils-Aime’ announced his commitment to transfer to Troy University to continue his college football career.

Fils-Aime’ played high school football at Enterprise High School and the 6-foot-3-inch, 320-pound defensive tackle started his college career at Coffeyville Community College in Kansas. He tallied 26 tackles, 4.5 tackles-for-loss, one sack and three pass breakups in 2023.

Fils-Aime’ chose to commit to Troy over offers from other schools like Sam Houston State, Western Kentucky, Ball State, Utah State, Liberty, Middle Tennessee, New Mexico, Jacksonville State and more.

Fils-Aime’ is also a legacy at Troy University as his sister, La’Tia Fils-Aime’, played for the women’s basketball team from 2015 through 2018.

“(Troy) has been a school I always wanted to go to ever since I watched my sister play basketball there,” Fils-Aime’ said of his decision to commit to Troy. “I used to go to a lot of football games and it just makes sense to go back home.”

Getting back to the Wiregrass was a big reason for his decision.

“I can not stress enough how much I missed my family,” Fils-Aime’ said. “Straight out of high school I went 13 hours away from home. I’m blessed for the opportunity to play right back at the crib.”

Fils-Aime’ has been impressed with the new coaching staff at Troy, as well.

“I love the new staff, they definitely know how to make you feel welcomed and appreciated,” he said. “They all have great backgrounds and I feel like this is going to be another winning season, and I’m glad I can be a part of it.”

Fils-Aime’, who is a spring graduate and will join the Trojans this summer, is already setting lofty goals for himself.

“I want to be one of the best defensive tackles to come out of Troy and make it to the (NFL),” Fils-Aime’ flatly said.
