Area Baseball: Pike Lib, Pike County finish off regular season with wins

The Pike Liberal Arts Patriots wrapped up the 2024 regular season with a 4-2 win over the Class 5A Rehobeth Rebels on the road on Monday.

The two sides went into the seventh inning tied 2-2 when Pike’s Luke Barron hit an RBI double into right field that drove Houston Gunter in for the go-ahead run. Pruitt Vaughan then hit an RBI single that drove Barron home to give PLAS the 4-2 lead. Pike earned the three outs to secure the win in the bottom of the seventh in three straight batters.

Barron went 3-for-4 at the plate with a double, one RBI and one run. He also pitched two innings and fanned five batters, while giving up two hits and no runs. Cole Garrott got the win on the mound, giving up one hit and no runs in three innings pitched.

The Pike County Bulldogs also finished off the regular season with a 17-9 win over the 1A Elba Tigers on Monday. Michael Gabel went 4-for-4 at the plate for PCHS with a double, three RBIs and two runs. Keldon Singleton went 3-for-5 with two RBIs and three runs, while Daniel Collins went 3-for-5 with four RBIs and one run. Ben Patterson also scored four runs and Omari Barrow went 2-for-3 with a double, three RBIs and two runs.

Barrow pitched two and 1/3 innings and fanned five batters along with giving up two hits and three earned runs. Singleton also mowed down seven batters, while giving up four hits and one earned run in four and 2/3 innings on the mound.
