Area Softball: CHHS shuts out Highland Home, Pike County wins pair of games

The Charles Henderson Lady Trojans dominated the Highland Home Lady Squadron by a score of 20-0 on April 8 in just three innings.

The Lady Trojans scored 10 runs in each of the first two innings to secure the win. Calleigh Compton and Mary West hit doubles, while Compton, West and Jada Jones each scored three runs. Molly Garrett, Camille Lewis, Reece Garrett and Aderian Greenwood scored two runs. Katy Lee pitched all three innings and struck out a pair of batters, while giving up one hit and no runs.

On April 8, the Pike County Lady Bulldogs throttled Samson by a score of 16-1. Alyssa Hiersche went 3-for-3 at the plate with an RBI and three runs, while Paloma Cain-Munoz went 2-for-2 with two RBIs and three runs. Hailey Griffin also scored three runs, while Ky Wilkerson hit a grand slam home run. Wilkerson also pitched all three innings and mowed down eight batters, while giving up one hit and one earned run.

The Lady Dawgs followed that up by outlasting New Brockton 19-10 on April 9. Pike County held on to a 12-10 lead going into the sixth inning when PCHS exploded to score seven runs.

Hiersche had another big day at the plate, going 4-for-4 with two RBIs and four runs. Hailey Griffin went 3-for-5 with four RBIs and two runs, while Abigail Griffin went 3-for-3 with four RBIs. Wilkerson went 3-for-4 with a double, five RBIs and one run. Emmya Moultry went 3-for-5 with an RBI and three runs. Abigail Griffin pitched five innings and struck out a batter, while giving up six earned runs. Wilkerson struck out five and gave up no hits or runs in two innings pitched.

The Ariton Lady Purple Cats fell to Dale County 2-0 on April 8. Beth Dixon went 2-for-3 at the plate for the Lady Cats. Sydney Adams pitched four innings and struck out three batters, while giving up five hits and two earned runs.

Ariton also bested Carrol 13-0 on Monday. Nya Allen went 2-for-4 at the plate with a triple, two RBIs and two runs, while Caitlyn Webb went 2-for-4 with a double, one RBI and two runs. Dixon went 2-for-4 with a double and two runs. Lizzy Faircloth went 2-for-4 with a double and three RBIs. Brianna Acahua also hit a two-run home run. Faircloth struck out four batters and gave up three hits and no runs in five innings.
