Brundidge Council informed of tax extension

The Brundidge Council met in regular session on Tuesday, April 2 at Brundidge City Hall. Council members, Leticia Hall, Margaret Ross, Byron Gaynor, and Marilyn Rodgers were present for the meeting. Council Member Dough Holland was absent.

In new business, the council approved the use of the Bass House grounds to J’ean Collins for a “Back 2 School Breakfast Giveaway and Family Fun Day” to be held on July 27.

The council approved Poly, Inc. for engineering services in connection with the WSRF Project

City Manager Willie Wright informed Mayor Isabell Boyd of the Pike County Commission’s proposal to extend the one-cent sales tax that was voted on in 2017 to cover the debt issued for the construction and operations of the new jail complex.

The Pike County Commission has agreed to appropriate to the City of Brundidge one-half of the jail tax collected inside the city limits of Brundidge pursuant to the pending legislation is passed by the Alabama Legislature.

The Brundidge City Council meets at 6 p.m. the first and third Tuesdays of the month at Brundidge City Hall. The meetings are open to the public.
