Area Softball: Zion Chapel bests Pike Liberal Arts

The Class 2A No. 3-ranked Zion Chapel Lady Rebels earned a resounding 10-0 win over the Pike Liberal Arts Lady Patriots on Tuesday.

Shea Wambles led ZCHS at the plate, going 2-for-3 with a double, one RBI and two runs, while Amber Kidd hit a solo home run and Riley Bannin went 2-for-4 with two RBIs and a run. Sydney Boothe also went 2-for-3 with an RBI. Boothe pitched all five innings and mowed down 11 batters, while giving up one hit and no earned runs.

Mary Brown earned Pike Lib’s lone hit on the afternoon. Alissa Barron pitched four and 1/3 innings and struck out one batter.

On Tuesday, the Ariton Lady Purple Cats also throttled Abbeville by a score of 22-0. Lizzy Faircloth went 2-for-3 at the plate with a home run, five RBIs and four runs. Nya Allen went 2-for-2 with four RBIs and two runs, while Beth Dixon went 2-for-3 with two RBIs and two runs.
Faircloth pitched one inning and struck out a pair of batters, while giving up no hits or runs. Madolyn Hudson also struck out four and gave up no hits or runs in two innings pitched.
