The Troy Trojans women’s basketball team returns to Trojan Arena on Monday, March 26, to face FIU in the second round of the 2024 WNIT.

The Trojans earned a bye in the first round of the tournament, while FIU knocked off Stetson by a score of 60-47 in the first round on Thursday.

This is Troy’s first postseason appearance since falling to Alabama in the opening round of the 2022 WNIT.

“We are thankful that we were selected to represent Troy in this national tournament,” head coach Chanda Rigby said. “Our goal is to, first, be the first women’s basketball team from Troy to win a game in a national tournament. Then, we want to fight our way through the bracket and win the championship. We look forward to our fans following us throughout the tournament as they have all season long.”

Troy is coming off a heartbreaking loss to Louisiana in the Sun Belt Tournament Quarterfinals on March 8 but had enjoyed a seven-game winning streak prior to that loss. The Trojans are the country’s leader in rebounds, averaging 47.6 rebounds per game and are one of just two SBC teams to score more than 80 points per game.

Troy boasts a trio of All-Sun Belt athletes in Tai’Sheka Porchia, Ja’Mia Hollings and Makayia Hallmon. Porchia comes into the WNIT averaging 14.8 points, eight rebounds and 1.3 steals per game, while Hollings is averaging 14.8 points, 8.9 rebounds and 1.7 steals per game. Hallmon also averages 15 points, 2.9 rebounds, 1.7 assists and one steal per game.

Troy and FIU will play at 6 p.m. on Monday. General admission for the contest will be $5, while high school student admission will be $1. Kids 12 and under and Troy University students get in free. There will also be $10 parking.
