Area Schools land on ASWA Baseball/Softball Top 10

The Alabama Sports Writers Association released its first softball/baseball rankings of the season and a number of schools in The Messenger’s coverage area landed on their respective Top 10s.
In softball, Zion Chapel landed at No. 3 in Class 2A behind Wicksburg and West End. The Lady Rebels are 17-2 on the season and coming off a 18-1 win over Highland Home on March 19. Rounding out the 2A Softball Top 10 is Hatton, Lamar County, Winston County, Pleasant Valley, Sumiton Christian, Sand Rock and North Sand Mountain.
In baseball, Ariton comes in at No. 1 in Class 2A with Pike Lib right behind the Purple Cats at No. 2. Ariton is 10-4 on the season, while Pike Lib sits at 13-1, but the Patriots’ lone loss of the season came to the defending 2A Champion Purple Cats.
Rounding out the 2A Top 10 in baseball is GW Long, Vincent, Wicksburg, Collinsville, Lindsay Lane, Fyffe, Hatton and Mars Hill.
