One scoop of ice cream is never enough. And, one piece of pie deserves another. With that in mind, Edith Synco decided one cookbook chock-full of tried and true recipes dating back to great-grandma and moving forward, was not enough.

So, Synco decided the cookbook she released four years ago, titled “Fabulous Kitchen Traditions” needed another ‘helping” of recipes and stories.

So, once again, she tuned to family and friends for recipes to, once again, share in the second volume titled “Fabulous Kitchen Traditions- Continued.”

Synco said the second volume will be a variety of new and old family favorites.

“Although it is easy to find some recipes online, they are sometimes incomplete or difficult to execute,” she said. “The second volume is filled with tried and true recipes with clean instructions.”

Synco’s goal is to have a book with approachable recipes for cooks of any skill level, just as her first cookbook creations. Either way, all are easy to read and follow, and the results have been confirmed by cooks of all skill sets.

“I love to cook and feed my family and I love the traditions that go with that, but I also love digging for new recipes and new experiences,” Synco said.

“Someone asked me if I could make Kahlua. I had never thought about it, but it made me curious. Now, I have people asking for it so the recipe is in the book. The same with vanilla extract. Sometimes the challenge of the hunt for the ‘perfect recipe is as much fun as actually making the dish.”

Many of the cookbook contributors feel the same way.

“The hunt for and discovery of a dish that is delicious and makes others excited is the reward every cook loves to receive,” Synco said.  “Some sought-after recipes in volume two include Mrs. Coleen’s Louisiana Gumbo submitted by Donna McLendon, and Edith’s mother, Kathryn Williams Dunn’s recipe for  Divinity, as well as her Lemon Cheesecake.

In addition to these and other new recipes, Synco has a few fan favorites and a few of the most requested recipes from the first cookbook, including delicious cheesecakes recipes.

Cookbooks are available for preorder now through March 25 and are only $20 each. All proceeds from the cookbook sales will go toward Park Memorial Methodist Projects. Contact Park Memorial Methodist Church, 334-566-3881 or parkmemorial@troycable.net.
