Area Baseball: Pike Lib defeats 7A Dothan

On Saturday, the Pike Liberal Arts Patriots (13-1) picked up a 3-0 shutout win over Class 7A’s Dothan Wolves.

John Lott led PLAS at the plate, going 2-for-2 with an RBI, while Luke Barron went 2-for-2 with an RBI and a run. Kade Brookins and Pruitt Vaughan scored one run each. Brookins got the win on the mound, striking out four batters and giving up six hits and no runs in the complete game shutout.

The Charles Henderson Trojans (8-10) dropped a doubleheader against GW Long on Saturday. CHHS lost 7-1 in game one. Parker Adams went 2-for-3 at the plate with an RBI. Clay Johnson scored the lone Trojan run. Bradley Prestwood struck out three batters and gave up three hits and no earned runs in three innings pitched. Chase Vaznaian struck out a pair of batters, while giving up four hits and two earned runs in three innings on the mound.

Charles Henderson lost 11-7 in game two. Cooper Johnson went 2-for-4 with two runs, while Clay Johnson hit a double. Clay Johnson, Adams, Wes Templin, Wilson Jones and Owen Pugh scored one run each. Pugh struck out a batter and gave up four hits and two earned runs in three and 2/3 innings pitched. Trenton Bryan struck out a pair of batters and gave up three hits and eight earned runs in one and 2/3 innings pitched.
