A trio of athletes in The Messenger’s coverage were named to the Alabama Sports Writers Association All-State Team on Saturday, including Charles Henderson’s Jywon Boyd, Zion Chapel’s Slade Grantham and Ariton’s Ian Senn.

Body was named to the Class 5A All-State Third-Team after averaging 17 points, 2.2 steals, 4.4 rebounds and 3.8 assists per game this season. He also earned All-Messenger honors as he helped lead CHHS back to the Elite 8.

Both Grantham and Senn earned Class 2A Honorable Mention. Grantham and Senn both also earned All-Messenger honors with Grantham being named All-Messenger Player of the Year after averaging 19.1 points, 6.1 rebounds, 4.1 assists and 2.3 steals per game. Senn averaged 17.7 points, 5.5 rebounds, 2.8 assists and 3.3 steals per game.
