Area Baseball: Pike Lib, Charles Henderson bounce back with Tuesday wins

The Pike Liberal Arts Patriots (11-1) suffered their first loss of the season on Monday but rebounded to knock off Dale County by a score of 7-1 on Tuesday.

Pitcher Luke Barron got the win on the mound, giving up just three hits and no earned runs with nine strikeouts in six innings pitched. Kade Brookins also gave up just one hit and no runs. John Lott led PLAS at the plate, going 3-for-4 with two doubles, a stolen base, two runs and two RBIs. Houston Gunter also earned two RBIs, while Barron and Peyton Elliot tallied one hit each. Rhodes Baker scored two runs and both Dawson Bradford and Cole Garrott scored one run each.

Charles Henderson lost two straight last weekend but bounced back to throttle Highland Home by a score of 14-2 on Tuesday. Bradley Prestwood, Cole Pugh, Josh Hooten, Wes Templin, Parker Adams, Dunn Lindsey, Cooper Johnson, Chase Vaznaian and Trenton Bryan each earned one hit. Vaznaian scored three runs, while Bryan and Adams scored two runs each. Clay Johnson got the win on the mound, striking out four batters and giving up just one hit and no runs in three innings pitched. Prestwood struck out three batters and gave two hits and no earned runs in two innings on the mound.

The Pike County Bulldogs lost 11-1 to Montgomery Academy on Tuesday. Britt Albritton earned Pike County’s lone hit on the day, while Omari Barrow scored the only Bulldog run. Keldon Singleton struck out one batter and gave up six hits and four earned runs in three and 2/3 innings on the mound.

On Monday, the Zion Chapel Rebels (6-5) knocked off the 5A Carroll Eagles by a score of 3-1. Brady Flowers went 2-for-4 at the plate with a run, while Macon Allen hit a double for the Rebels. Austin Jordan got the win on the mound, striking out three batters and giving up no hits or runs in four innings pitched. Wes Braisted struck out four batters and gave up no hits or earned runs in three innings pitched.
