CHHS excels at Andalusia Track Meet

The Charles Henderson Trojans boys’ team finished first over and the girls’ team finished second overall at the Covington County Schools Track Meet in Andalusia on March 7.

Along with both the boys and girls taking top two overall finishes, CHHS had more than 30 Top 5 finishes on the day.

On the boys side, Jamal Downing earned first overall in the 100-meter dash, while teammate CL Siler came in fourth and Terrance Thomas finished in fifth. In the 200-meter dash, Thomas took the silver, while Downing came in fifth. In the 1600-meter run, Nicco Brunje finished in second place and Corey Johnson came in fourth.

Bunjee then took the gold in the 3200-meter run, while Johnson came in fourth. The 4×100-meter relay team of Downing, Siler, Thomas and Zach Coleman also earned a gold finish. Thomas came in first in the 400-meter dash with Downing coming in second.

Siler took the gold in the 110-meter hurdles and the 300-meter hurdles, while Kam Johnson came in third in the 110-meter hurdles and fourth in the 300-meter hurdles.

In the long jump, Bray Jones came in fourth place, while Coleman took the gold in the triple jump and Kam Stallworth came in fourth place. In the discus throw, Brandon Givens earned first place and Sterling Sharp came in third place. Also, Givens took the gold in the shot put with Sharp coming in fourth place.

On the girls side, Tailor Hobdy earned the silver in both the 100-meter hurdles and 300-meter hurdles. Payton Ousley finished in second place in the 100-meter dash but took the gold in both the 200-meter dash and 400-meter dash, while Ryan Thomas came in third in both the 100-meter dash and 200-meter dash.

The CHHS Girls 4×100-meter relay team of Thomas, Ousley, Hobdy and Latia Robinson took first place. Hailey Hampton earned fourth in the discus throw, taking the silver in the shot put. Kymoree Fenn also earned sixth in the shot put.
