Area Softball: Pike County bests CHHS, Zion Chapel remains undefeated

The Charles Henderson Lady Trojans (5-5) hosted the Pike County Lady Bulldogs (4-6) in a county matchup on Thursday with the Lady Dawgs taking a 16-8 win.

Abigail Griffin had a big day at the plate for the Lady Dawgs, going 4-for-4 with two doubles, three RBIs and two runs. Jodie Evans went 4-for-5 with a double, two RBIs and three runs, while Hailey Griffin went 2-for-5 with three RBIs and two runs. Abigail Griffin pitched all seven innings and gave up nine hits with three earned runs.

Janazia Cantlow went 2-for-4 for the Lady Trojans with an RBI and a run. Molly Garrett, M. West and Reece Garrett scored two runs each. Cantlow pitched four and 2/3 innings and struck out three batters, while giving up four hits and two earned runs.

The Pike Liberal Arts Lady Patriots picked up a resounding 18-0 win over Highland Home on Thursday night in three innings.

Allie Booth led PLAS at the plate, going 2-for-3 with a home run, three RBIs and two runs. Julianne Meyer went 1-for-1 with a double, three RBIs and a run. Addi Grace Maulden, Mary Holland Stephens, Haylie Brown and Alissa Barron scored two runs each for the Lady Patriots. Yaley McLendon pitched all three innings and struck out four batters, while giving up one hit and no runs.

The Zion Chapel Lady Rebels (12-0) remain undefeated with a 6-0 shutout over GW Long on Thursday. Riley Bannin went 4-for-4 at the plate with an RBI and a run, while Shea Wambles hit a two-run home run. Kaylee Hodge went 2-for-3 with a run. Sydney Boothe pitched all seven innings and mowed down 11 batters, while giving up two hits and no earned runs.

The Lady Rebels have outscored their opponents this season 122-31 and have scored more than 10 runs in a game in all but four contests.
