The Pike Liberal Arts Patriots (10-0) picked up a second straight area win over the Goshen Eagles on Thursday by a score of 18-2 in five innings of baseball.

Peyton Elliot led PLAS at the plate, going 3-for-4 with a double, four RBIs and two runs, while John Lott went 2-for-3 with an RBI and two runs. Luke Barron, Hudson Hollinghead and Rhodes Baker scored two runs each. Baker got the win on the mound, striking out four batters, while giving up one hit and no earned runs in three innings pitched. Elliot pitched two innings and fanned five batters, while giving up no hits or runs.

Cade Edwards earned a double for Goshen, while Tyler McLendon and Landon Isler scored one run each. McLendon pitched three innings and gave up eight hits and seven earned runs with four strikeouts.

The Charles Henderson Trojans (6-7) saw their four-game winning streak snapped on Thursday, losing 9-3 to the Bibb County Choctaws in the second game of the Terry Sikes Baseball Tournament.

Chase Vaznaian went 2-for-3 at the plate for CHHS with an RBI, while Clay Johnson went 2-for-4 with a run and Wes Templin went 2-for-3. Cooper Johnson and Dunn Lindsey scored one run each. Vaznaian pitched three and 2/3 innings and gave up four hits and no earned runs, while Templin struck out a pair of batters and gave up one hit and four earned runs in one and 2/3 innings pitched.

The Ariton Purple Cats (6-3) spilt a doubleheader on Thursday, losing 2-0 to Robertsdale but besting Shelby County by a score of 10-0 in the Terry Sikes Tournament.

Against Robertsdale, the Cats didn’t manage to get a hit in the game. E. Kilpatrick pitched all seven innings and struck out two batters, while giving up nine hits and two earned runs.

The reigning 2A State Champs bounced back to beat Shelby County in six innings. Lawson Leger went 2-for-3 at the plate with a double, one RBI and two runs, while Dalton Murphy went 2-for-4 with an RBI. Hughes Hammock earned a double and tallied three RBIs, while Myles Tyler also had a double and two RBIs with two runs.

Ian Senn pitched four innings and struck out four batters, while giving up one hit and no runs. Leger also struck out a pair of batters and gave up one hit and no runs in two innings on the mound.

The Zion Chapel Rebels dropped a Thursday matchup with the Elba Tigers by a score of 7-6. The Rebels went into the seventh inning trailing 7-3 but rallied to score three runs and come within one run only to come up short.

Wes Braisted went 2-for-4 at the plate with an RBI and a run, while Austin Jordan went 2-for-4 with two RBIs and a run. John Foster Hamm pitched five and 1/3 innings and mowed down nine batters, while giving up three hits and no earned runs.
