Brundidge Police Chief Sam Green captured 70.28 percent of the total votes in District 1 of the Pike County Commission race in the Tuesday primary election. Green will have no Republican opposition in the November General Election. He will represent Pike County District 1 on the Pike County Commission.

“There was no reason for me not to run for the District 1 seat on the Pike County Commission, “Green said. “I was born and raised here and I am dedicated to serving the people in District 1. My pledge is to be accessible to all those in my district and to work for the betterment District 1 and all Pike County.”

Green said he knew early-on that running for the District 1 seat on the county commission was the right thing to do.

“When people first started asking me to run was when I started thinking seriously about it,” Green said.

The more people, who asked Green to run, the more seriously he thought about the opportunity to serve his district and the people of Pike County.

“I prayed about running and that I would make the best decision for me and for District 1,” Green said. “Having the support of my family and their blessings was assurance that running for a seat on the Pike County Commission was the right thing for me to do.”

Green will continue to serve the Brundidge community as its chief of police and will uphold his commitment to those he serves.

“I am thankful for the opportunities to serve the citizens of Brundidge, District 1 and all Pike County as a Pike County Commissioner,” Green said. “I thank all of those who supported me and gave me this opportunity to serve.”
