Charles Henderson falls to Dothan in Hoops Classic Quarterfinals

On Thursday, the Charles Henderson Trojans dropped a heartbreaker 53-45 to the defending tournament champion Dothan Wolves in the Downtown Dothan Hoops Classic.

Charles Henderson led for almost the entirety of the game before the 7A Wolves rallied late. The Trojans led 11-6 going into the second quarter and took a 23-22 lead into halftime. CHHS extended the lead to 36-31 going into the final period.

The Trojans hung on to a 39-33 lead with just under six minutes remaining when Dothan exploded to go on a 13-0 run to take a seven-point lead with just two minutes remaining. The Trojans managed to cut the lead back to five at one point but that was as close as they would come.

CHHS shot 33 percent from the field in the loss, while Dothan shot 44 percent. The Wolves also won the rebound battle 36-26 and forced 15 CHHS turnovers. The Trojan defense, however, managed to force 21 turnovers of their own.

Jywon Boyd led Charles Henderson with 22 points, three rebounds, two assists and three steals, while Bray Jones tallied 12 points, four rebounds and three steals.
