This weekend, the Troy Trojans received some good news when three-star cornerback Rondell Carter announced his commitment to play college football at the school.

Carter originally committed to Coastal Carolina over the summer but de-committed in November before flipping his commitment to Troy. Carter holds offers from other schools like Virginia Tech, Arkansas State, East Carolina, Georgia State, Liberty, Marshall, Old Dominion and others.

Carter is a Charlotte, NC., native, who is a star defensive back at Julius L. Chambers High School. The 6-foot, 178-pounder has played both safety and cornerback in high school. This past season, he led his team in tackles with 90 along with tallying 10 tackles-for-loss, two sacks, one interception, 15 pass breakups and two blocked punts.

Defensive back is a position of great need for Troy going into the 2024 season as all four of the starting defensive backs will be graduating along with more depth players.
