Local arts organizations receive ASCA grants

At its December quarterly meeting in Montgomery, the Alabama State Council on the Arts awarded 189 grants totaling $1,272,000 to 152 organizations and individuals across the state.
Four Pike County arts organizations-the Pioneer Museum of Alabama, Troy Arts Council, Troy University and Troy-Pike Cultural Arts Center received grant funds totaling $38,900.
The Pioneer Museum of Alabama received $3,500 for Thunder on the Three Notch, 2024; The Troy Arts Council received $10, 200 for its Performance Series; Troy University received $3,300 for its Junior Warriors Children’s Art Program; $5,700, for Diversity Through Art Program; $5,100 for Alabama Aloud Season Two and $1,700 for Summer Spotlight 2024.
The Troy-Pike Cultural Arts Center received $6,800 for Summer Art Explosion and $3,400 for Sunshine Art for Seniors.
“Art and creativity make us stronger as individuals, families, communities and as a state,” said Dr. Elliot Knight, executive director of the Council on the arts. “They are the backbone of innovation, prosperity and thriving people and places. The grants awarded by the Council are a high return investment that will benefit millions of Alabamians in the months ahead.”
