Area teams pick up Tuesday hoops wins

The Pike Liberal Arts Patriots, Zion Chapel Rebels, Ariton Purple Cats, Goshen Eagles and Pike County Bulldogs earned basketball wins on Tuesday night.
Pike Lib came away with a 49-36 win over Kinston on the road. After jumping out to a 14-7 lead in the first quarter, the Patriots managed to take a 19-12 lead into the halftime break. That lead stretched to 35-24 going into the final period and the Patriots also outscored the Bulldogs 14-12 in the final period to earn the 49-36 win.
Jackson Mitchell and Sawyer Keck both scored 17 points each to lead PLAS, while Will Rice and Wilson Cotton scored seven points each in the win.
Pike County also picked up a 77-67 win over Abbeville at home on Tuesday. Pike County was led by Kam Christian with 27 points in the win, while Jah Burney earned a double-double with 20 points, 16 rebound and four blocks. For Abbeville, Kamrin Peterman scored 20 points.
Goshen knocked off Barbour County by a score of 65-64 on Tuesday as Jayden McNabb knocked a free throw with just three seconds remaining to secure the win. KJ Bristow led the way for Goshen with 24 points, while Sam Adams scored 14 points and grabbed eight rebounds. Makayle McBride also blocked seven shots in the win.
Additionally, Ariton picked up a 57-26 win over Dale County as Mylers Tyler earned a double-double with 14 points and 10 boards. Ian Senn also earned his own double-double with 10 points and 11 rebounds. Lawson Leger added 11 points and Matt McNair scored 11 points.
Zion Chapel picked up a 59-51 win over Elba, as well. Jacob Chestnut scored 20 points to lead the way for the Rebels in the win, while Slade Grantham added 18 points. Alvin Henderson scored 19 points for Elba.
