Charles Henderson wrestling opens 2023 season

The Charles Henderson Trojans wrestling team headed to Montgomery County for the Montgomery County Wrestling Kickoff on Dec. 2.

At the meet, Charles Henderson competed with athletes from Pike Road, Montgomery Catholic, Carver-Montgomery and Percy Julian High Schools.

Charles Henderson’s Jace Dates defeated Evan Parker from Montgomery Catholic in the 165-pound division but fell to Percy Julian’s Keldrick Collins by pinfall and Montgomery Catholic’s Caleb Armstrong via pinfall.

In the 175-pound division, Charles Henderson’s Jackson Jones lost via pinfall to Montgomery Catholic’s Ryan Parker but then bounced back to win two straight over Carver-Montgomery’s Jorrion Calhoun and Percy Julian’s Jacob Sawyer via 14-11 decision. Charles Henderson’s Brendon Mosley then knocked off Calhoun before beating his teammate Jackson Jones via pinfall. Mosley also picked up a win over Jacob Sawyer of Percy Julian and lost to Montgomery Catholic’s Ryan Parker via pinfall.

In the 120-pound division, Demond Williams lost to Carver Montgomery’s Corian Flowers and Herbert Gayle III of Percy Julian. David Dawson lost to Montgomery Catholic’s Maurizio Laurente and Percy Julian’s Derrick Benjamin in the 126-pound division.
