Pike County celebrates the coming of Christmas

Pike County will celebrate the coming of Christmas 2023 with a variety of welcoming events the first week in December
On Monday night, the City of Troy will host its annual Christmas Parade at 7 p.m.in downtown Troy. The theme of the parade will be a Superhero Christmas.
Following the parade, everyone will be invited downtown for the Tree Lighting Ceremony and pictures with Santa.’
Pike County’s third season-welcoming parade will on Main Street in downtown Brundidge at 6 p.m. The parade will feature Santa’s arrival and the lighting of the city’s Christmas. The downtown businesses will remain open with opportunities to enter drawings and win door prizes.
Troy University’s College of Communication and Fine Arts will present its annual Sounds of the Season holiday celebration at 7 p.m. Tuesday, December 5 at the Claudia Crosby Theater.
The Pioneer Museum of Alabama will host its very popular “Ole Time Christmas” event on Friday and Saturday. Activities will be inside the main building, the historic buildings and on the ground. Dulcimer and harp music will be featured in the main building along with make and take activities, visiting with Santa Claus. The Little Red Schoolhouse will be open for stories and, in the Redmonds’ cabin make-and-take weaving opportunities. Admission is charged.
On Friday and Saturday nights Appalachian storyteller and musician, Josh Goforth will be at the We Piddle Around Theater in Brundidge for the annual Chili Country Christmas, Goforth has appeared on the Grand Ole Opry and at Carnegie Hall. Reservations are required.
