Thankfulness and caring are not seasonal “items.”

As Thanksgiving slipped quietly into the Christmas season that comes in with parades, parties and such, Bobby and Mary Poe took time to reflect on the blessings in their lives. One of those blessing is the opportunity to be foster parents.

“Bobby and I are so thankful to be foster parents,” Mary said. “We recently adopted a little girl out of the foster care system. She has been truly a blessing to our lives.

“When Bobby and I started fostering, we thought we would become temporary foster parents, Mary Poe said. “However, there is nothing temporary about it. The children might be temporarily yours, but the impact you make on their lives and the impact they make on yours is lasting.”

There is a lesson to be learned from each child, Poe said.

“Parenting is love or the lesson of love,” she said. “Bobby and I are so thankful. God has truly blessed our family. If we could say anything about fostering it would be there is such a need and such a reward.”

Poe said fostering is a blessing and what better way to be blessed at Christmas time, than with a child.
