The junior college (JUCO) ranks continue to bolster Troy’s 2024 recruiting class as Hutchinson Community College receiver Zeriah Beason committed to the Trojans on Monday.

Beason is coming off a sophomore season that saw the 6-foot, 198-pound receiver haul in 27 catches for 476 yards and five touchdowns as he earned First-Team All-Conference honors. His best game this season came in a win over Garden City Community College when he hauled in five passes for 91 yards and two touchdowns. Beason and his HCC teammates will be playing perennial power East Mississippi Community College in the NJCAA National Semifinals on Dec. 2.

Beason, a Duncanville, Texas, native, was a star receiver at Duncanville High School and was rated as a three-star recruit coming out of high school. He started his college career at Oregon State. In 2020, the COVID year, he started five games for Oregon State and caught 16 passes for 148 yards and three touchdowns. In 2021, he caught 20 passes for 236 yards and one score.

Following the 2021 season, Beason transferred to Washington State but ultimately left the team during the season. His coach cited “eligibility issues” and Beason transferred to Hutchinson Community College, where he became one of the top receivers in the conference. He will come to Troy with two years of eligibility left.

Troy’s 2024 Recruiting Class now includes Mobile (McGill-Toolen) cornerback Shemar Welch, Charles Henderson (Troy) athlete Jywon Boyd, UMS-Wright (Mobile) athlete Joe Lott, Baker athlete Kevin Beckham Jr., McAdory linebacker J’Quan Mason, Westlake (Ga.) offensive lineman Dominic Steward, Booker T.
