Pike Lib, Ariton get set for South Regional Volleyball Tournament

The Pike Liberal Arts Lady Patriots and Ariton Lady Purple Cats will head to Montgomery this Wednesday, Oct. 25, to compete in the Class 2A South Volleyball Regional Tournament.

Pike Lib enters the tournament as the No. 1 seed from Area 5 after winning the Area Championship last week. The Lady Patriots will face off against Area 7 runner-up Francis Marion at 11:30 a.m. Francis Marion defeated Greene County in the semifinals of the Area 7 Tournament but was swept by Tuscaloosa Academy in the finals.

The winning team will play the winner of Bayshore Christian and J.U. Blacksher in the quarterfinals at 5 p.m.

Ariton enters the South Regional as the Area 4 Runner-Up after losing to GW Long in the Area Championship last week. Ariton will play Wicksburg, the Area 2 Champions, in the opening round at 12:45 p.m.

The winner of that matchup will play the winner of Horseshoe Bend vs. Fayetteville at 6:30 p.m. in the quarterfinals.

All regional matches take place at the Cramton Bowl Multiplex in Montgomery. The semifinals and finals will take place on Oct. 26. The South Regional Champion, runner-up and both the third and fourth place teams advance to the 2A State Tournament in Birmingham.
