Woman who murdered mother-in-law to get parole hearing

The Pike County woman who stabbed her mother-in-law to death in 2001 will have a parole hearing later this month.

Stephanie Yvonne Joseph was convicted in 2002 of stabbing Geraldine Joseph, 50, to death during a domestic dispute.

According to reports at the time, Geraldine Joseph had called police because of an altercation with her daughter-in-law. Upon arriving at the residence, officers found the elder Joseph, who had been stabbed once in the chest, outside the residence. She was taken to the hospital, where she later died.

Stephanie Joseph, then 29, was still on the scene when officers arrived, but police did not confirm if she had confessed to the crime, according to The Messenger’s reports at the time.

Geraldine Joseph and her husband reportedly had custody of Stephanie Joseph’s children at the time.

Stephanie Joseph has served 19.5 years of a 25-year prison sentence. Her parole hearing is scheduled for Wednesday, Aug. 19.
