Award-winning author and former Trojan Chellie Phillips has announced the release of her second book, “Get Notice, Get Hired.”

Phillips’ book is filled with tips, strategies and tactics designed to help both a first-time job searcher or a career changer build a personal career brand that showcases their experience and unique skills and catches the eye of a recruiter or hiring manager.

“In May, typically one million college graduates hit the job market,” Phillips said. “But many graduates who had received job offers prior to graduation have found their offers rescinded due to the uncertain economic times.”

Phillips said, because of the pandemic’s effects on the economy, it is estimated that as many as 30 million people will be seeking employment once states and businesses reopen. “Everyone from Baby Boomers to Millennials will be competing for the same jobs,” she said. “Learning to navigate the roadblocks and creating an attention-getting, personal career brand will be vital for candidates ready to land in the interview seat.”

The average job posting receives more than 200 online submissions and less than half will be reviewed by a human being thanks to Applicant Tracking Software, which is designed so that only those applications that most closely match the job posting make it through, Phillips said.  “In today’s job market, if you don’t get noticed, you won’t get hired. If you’re going to land in the interview seat, you’ve got to have an online profile and career marketing material designed to make you the most memorable candidate.”

“Get Noticed, Get Hired” provides job candidates with the tools they need to build a profile designed to put them in the

interview seat and to make them a stand out throughout their careers, Phillips said.
