Police arrest suspect in woman’s death

Troy Police have arrested a suspect in connection with a woman found dead Wednesday at her residence.

Police were called to welfare check at about 10:30 a.m. Wednesday in the 100 block of Glenwood Avenue. “When officers arrived, they entered the residence and found the resident deceased insider her home,” said Troy Police Chief Randall Barr. “Evidence gathered at the scene suggests foul play.”

The resident has been identified as 29-year-old Whitney Blair Sanders of Troy.

Police are not releasing any information about the suspect. However, Barr said Ms. Sanders’ body will be sent to the Alabama Department of Forensic Science for an autopsy.

The Troy Police is being assisted by the Pike County District Attorney’s Office, the Pike County Coroner’s Office, the Pike County Sheriff’s Department, the Brundidge Police Department, the Alabama Department of Forensic Science and the United States Marshal’s Service.
